About Ruan Goosen

I’m Ruan Goosen, a Cape Town-based designer with a passion for creating timeless, high-quality garments that blend sophistication with bold creativity. My journey in design began in high school and has since evolved into a multifaceted career grounded in both creative and business acumen.

I hold a BCom in Financial Management and Marketing from Stellenbosch University, which I completed in 2017. This foundation equipped me with the strategic skills to approach the fashion industry with a sharp eye for business opportunities. In 2020, I further honed my craft by earning a BA in Fashion Design from the Elizabeth Galloway Academy of Fashion Design, solidifying my path as a designer.

After graduating, I gained invaluable experience working as a designer and production manager for leading YDE designers from 2020 to early 2024. This role allowed me to refine my expertise in balancing creative vision with production efficiency.

In April 2024, I relaunched my personal brand, By Ruan Goosen, marking a new chapter in my career. Since then, I have achieved great success working with private and corporate clients, delivering bespoke designs and exclusive collections that resonate with a discerning, trend-conscious audience.

My work is deeply rooted in sustainability and supporting local industries. Using locally sourced fabrics from across South Africa, I design for both menswear and womenswear, catering to individuals aged 16-99 who value craftsmanship, durability, and style.

From debuting my first runway collection in 2019 to growing my brand into a trusted name in fashion, my journey reflects a commitment to celebrating individuality, storytelling, and the timeless art of design.
